When we first had a chat to Katie and discovered she wanted to come in for a glamour shoot with her best friend, we were ecstatic! Even more so when we found out that her best friend was a small carpet python, named Ekans (read it backwards!).
Katie came in, looking like a superstar, with a selection of outfits and Ekans in tow, chilling out in his carrier. We had a great catch up chat with Katie to get her perspective on her experience at Viva! She said, “My photographer, Zoe made me feel so comfortable. She did such a good job – everyone in the studio seemed really happy and friendly.”
She shared what inspired her to get this photo-shoot done and why it was so important to capture this moment in her life.“I really wanted a picture taken with my snake because I just love him to bits. This photo-shoot was really doing something for me – wearing outfits I wouldn’t usually wear and capturing those moments. Feeling comfortable with my body and feeling good about myself.”
The friendship between Katie and Ekans was evident in the photos they had taken together. His little face was full of personality and we got to see that when he got up close to the lens to say hi and see what all the fuss was about.
Katie’s beautiful personality as well as her outer beauty shone in her photo-shoot and into the images, which were absolutely stunning. Zoe captured a variety of glamorous poses, with outfit changes and interactive photos of Katie and Ekans. Katie also discussed what photography meant to her, and how important it was to have photos taken, “I’m a person who really values photographs. It’s about capturing something, a moment – I like to capture everything. Photographs aren’t about having a perfect body or anything like that – it’s about feeling beautiful.”
Our conversation provided us with a lot of insight, it was amazing to talk to someone who saw the amount of beauty and art in her photographs like Katie did. Capturing beautiful life memories and moments for people like Katie really encapsulates why we love what we do so much here at Viva!
