Perth, Western Australia- A place of beautiful treasures for your wedding photographs

Perth Wedding Photography LocationsPerth has many beautiful and hidden treasures when it comes to the perfect location for your wedding photographs. Your wedding is the most important day of your life and just as important is making sure you get the right location for that perfect backdrop. Viva Photography recognises that each newly married couple has their own individuality and style so it’s a good idea to reflect your style within the photography and the location will make a big impact. Viva Photography suggests a select few options below. Some of these locations require a hire fee and some conditions apply.

Classic, traditional and sophisticated:
The University of Western Australia
Located in Nedlands WA, the University of Western Australia is a stylish and sophisticated location for your wedding photos. Established in 1911 with stunning marble pillars, beautifully landscaped gardens and a magnificent lake, this location is an historical masterpiece. In the autumn months, beautiful pink and yellow flowers adorn the buildings. When the sun is shining, you will also be able to have a stunning mirrored effect from the lake. Sunset is also a beautiful time for a lovely newlywed stroll along the lake whilst your bridal party relaxes on the park benches.

Kings Park
The quintessential Perth icon, Kings Park boasts a stunning backdrop of the Swan River and the Perth City. Classic, breathtaking and natural surroundings blend beautifully with the modern urban cityscape. Perfect for sunsets and beautiful evening shots capturing the bright lights of the city.

South Perth Foreshore
The Swan River – a magnificent, tranquil setting with the gorgeous Perth city at your feet. A Perth favourite. During the day, the South Perth foreshore is a stunning blend of the bright blue sky and complimenty lush green grass. At night – the dark sky becomes illuminated by the colours of the bright city lights. The most stunning view however is at sunset where the warm sun creates an illusion of golden mirrors on the city skyline.

Caversham House
A hidden treasure in Perth’s Swan Valley established in 1835. If you’re wedding ceremony or reception is to be located at this stunning venue, you’ll have the opportunity of being photographed in one of the most beautiful settings in Perth. Lush, traditional bushland intertwined with an 1800’s renaissance style garden. Three terraces are linked by four limestone staircases and a grand staircase leading to a manicured lawn area. The terraces are adorned by three sandstone female statues each representing a season.

Harold Boas Gardens
Originally planted in 1900, the Harold Boas Gardens are charming and secluded tiered gardens hidden away on the outskirts of the Perth city. Several ponds, a beautiful collection of hanging trees, bridges and a gorgeous waterfall provide the opportunity for a selection of romantic photographs.

Hyde Park
Just a short drive from the Perth city, Hyde Park gardens are a beautiful and romantic location for traditional wedding photographs. A delightful expanse of lawn and shady trees with the perfect blend of the bright sky peeking through the branches.

Tranby House
This historical location which is over a century old is a classic. Situated on a rise above the banks of the picturesque Swan River, Tranby House reflects colonial farmhouse style architecture. The gently sloping lawns and gardens feature two magnificent oak trees, perfect for the most natural, romantic wedding images.

His Majesty’s Theatre
Sophisticated, classical and magical. A true Western Australian icon built in 1904. With Edwardian era architecture, the outside of the building provides a stunning backdrop fit for a king and queen. The inside of the building has many options for truly romantic images with red carpets, magnificent marble staircases and a contrast of black and white checked tiling in the foyer. Of course the main attraction – inside the theatre auditorium and stage is in a class of its own.

Romantic Beachside:
Be swept off your feet in the magical surroundings of one Perth’s stunning beaches. Perth has some of the best beaches in the world. With pure white sand blending perfectly with the ice blue waters, crashing waves and golden sunsets, the beach is the place to get perfect, romantic wedding photos. Especially recommended for brides and grooms who are not afraid to kick off their shoes and splash their feet around in the water.

Equally as beautiful as the stunning beaches are the surroundings and buildings nearby. Indiana Tea House in Cottesloe Beach is an exquisite building and kiosks such as at City Beach and Scarborough can create a retro feel. Other alternatives include the beach view points along West Coast drive, particularly around North Beach.

Chic, fashionable and funky:
Recently, some couples are choosing to have their wedding photos taken in a more modern, chic, fashionable location. Below we recommend some unique alternatives:

King Street, Perth
With an eclectic mix of high fashion, funky urban retailers, cafes, bars, restaurants and art galleries, King Street is a fashionistas dream wedding photo location. Early 20th century architecture will provide a Eurpoean styled backdrop. The features on buildings of retailers such as Louis Vuitton, Tiffany and Co, Gucci and Kailis Pearls can create a mini romantic wedding day fashion shoot just for you!

St George’s Terrace, Perth
Think a smaller scaled version of New York. Right in the heart of the Perth city, the hub of the business district you’ll find some wonderful buildings in an urban city themed wedding photo shoot.

Bars and Restaurants
A selection of bars and restaurants throughout Perth are adorned with some of the funkiest, chic architecture and finishings. It’s simply a matter of thinking outside the square. Our favourites include 1907, Deco at The Raffles, Luxe Bar, Zafferanos and Onyx Bar.

Of course these locations are just suggestions and when discussing your wedding day one on one with your photographer, they will be able to suggest the best locations to fit in with your other Wedding day arrangements.
